Dr. Xiao Han Li

Xiao Han Li  (Dip. Ac., M. Ac., Dr. Ac.)

NB: Dr. Xiao Han Li is currently on sabbatical in order to complete his PhD degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine of Gynecology and Internal Medicine at the Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine**. Dr. Li Murphy is covering his practice until he returns.

Dr. Xiao Han Li joined the clinic in August, 2015 after completing a Masters degree in Acupuncture in China. He is an active member of the Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture Association of Canada (CMAAC), and a registered acupuncture provider with Medavie/Blue Cross.

Dr. Li’s studies began here in Nova Scotia at The Canadian College of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine where he graduated with a Diploma in Acupuncture (Dip. Ac.) and trained with Dr. Li Murphy at Qing Li Chinese Therapy. The desire to advance his knowledge in Traditional Chinese Medicine took him to Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Chengdu, China* for graduate training in Acupuncture.

Dr. Li completed his research and clinical training  in Acupuncture under the direct supervision of Prof.You-Ping Hu, Principal Professor of Acupuncture and Moxibustion Technique, and Professor of Science of Acupuncture and Moxibustion at CDUTCM. Together they co-authored two peer-reviewed research papers which have been published in Chinese medical journals.

In addition to his advanced training in Acupuncture, Dr. Li also studied Tibetan and Chinese Herbal Medicine under the supervision of Ci Ren Deng Zhu, one of the foremost herbalists in Sichuan.

Dr Li specializes in the treatment of infertility and gynaecological disorders, anxiety, stress and sleep disorders,  and in the treatment of muscle and joint problems.

*Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (CDUTCM) was one of the first universities in China to confer master’s/doctor’s degrees in Acupuncture and TCM. The Teaching Hospital of CDUTCM (TCM Hospital of Sichuan province) is a first-class comprehensive hospital which is regarded as the national model forTCM hospitals in China. It focuses on TCM tradition, and is noted for its high-quality medical services with strong traditional characteristics.

The current name is designated in 1995 and it is one of the first group of universities to confer Master's and doctoral degrees.

Dr. Qing Li Murphy (Dr. TCM, Dr. Ac., CMD)

Dr. Qing Li Murphy comes from a long line of TCM practitioners in China. Her family has been practicing Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine for more than 100 years. Dr. Li Murphy started learning Traditional Chinese Medicine at the age of fifteen as an apprentice in her uncle’s clinic. She later attended the Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China*, and was awarded her Bachelor of Medicine degree in 1989. She practiced medicine in China, specializing in Obstetrics and Acupuncture for 15 years until 2004, when she emigrated to Canada. After a hiatus to learn English, Dr. Li Murphy opened her practice in Halifax in 2008. In total she has more than 25 years of clinical experience treating patients here and in China.

Dr. Li Murphy is an active member of the Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture Association of Canada (CMAAC) and the Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine Association of Nova Scotia (ATCMANS). She is a registered acupuncture provider with Medavie/Blue Cross.
